2027 Annual Enrollment

Annual Enrollment was from October 26 to November 9, 2026.
These benefits take effect January 1, 2027.

Welcome to Annual Enrollment! Continue reading below to see what’s changing for 2027 and how to enroll and elect your benefits in Workday.

What’s Changing

Your medical and prescription drug benefits will be updated for 2027. These changes help us stay aligned with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules and manage costs going forward. Here’s what’s new:

Medical Bi-weekly Contributions

The bi-weekly cost of your medical plan is increasing for 2027. The increase depends on the plan you choose, the number of dependents covered, and your base salary. The increase is driven by a rise in claims activity over the past year, along with a general overall inflation of healthcare costs nationwide.

Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage

For 2027, updates to IRS requirements and plan designs will result in changes to certain medical plan features. The changes are outlined below by plan.

The Anthem High Deductible Health Plan will see an increase in the annual deductible:

  • Single coverage: $2,000 (was $1,700)
  • Family coverage: $4,000 (was $3,400)

The Anthem PPO Plan will also see an increase in upfront deductibles both in and out of network:

In-network

  • Single coverage: $750 (was $500)
  • Family coverage: $1,500 (was $1,000)

Out-of-network

  • Single coverage: $750 (was $500)
  • Family coverage: $1,500 (was $1,000)

The prescription drug plan will see the following updates:

  • Increase in the generic prescription drug copay
  • Adjustment to the minimum and maximum member cost-sharing amounts for brand-name prescription drugs

There will be no plan design changes to the Kaiser Plan for 2027. The only change will be to payroll costs.

REMINDER: 2nd.MD Virtual Second Opinion Service

Anthem medical plan members have access to 2nd.MD—a virtual second opinion service—at no cost. This benefit connects you with board-certified, nationally recognized specialists for expert consultations via video or phone, typically within days. Whether you’re facing a new diagnosis, considering surgery, or evaluating a change in treatment, 2nd.MD offers fast, confidential guidance to help you make informed decisions.

Telemedicine is Most Affordable

When you need care, consider virtual visits first.  With a $20 co-pay (pre-deductible for the Anthem HDHP), these visits are more affordable than an office visit or urgent care when appropriate.

You must use an Anthem Live Health Online (LHO) provider for this copay to apply.

Wellness Activities

As part of our commitment to supporting your health and financial well-being we’ve continued the wellness program points system. This design aligns the points you receive with your wellness activities to provide the greatest impact on your well-being.

The opportunity for you and your spouse to earn up to 300 WellHexcel points ($300) each remains the same.

Anthem National Blue Distinction Centers of Specialty Care

Did you know that Anthem members can access top-tier specialized care through the Anthem National Blue Distinction Centers?

When facing serious health challenges, receiving exceptional care is crucial.

Blue Distinction Centers are recognized for their expertise in various categories, including bariatric surgery, cardiac care, cancer care, knee and hip replacement, spine surgery, and solid organ and bone marrow transplants.

To find a Blue Distinction Center near you, visit Anthem.com or use the Sydney App.

HSA Funding and Limits

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has increased the HSA contribution limits effective January 1, 2027. Annual Individual contributions increased to $4,500 and Family contributions increased to $9,000. Employees age 55 and older may contribute an additional $1,000.

Remember that Hexcel will jump start your savings by depositing $500 for Individuals and $1,000 for those with dependents in January (pro-rated for new hires).

Supplemental Life Insurance

Given that Life Insurance rates are age based, you can find your personalized cost on the Workday enrollment site. Don’t forget to update your Beneficiary Information too.

Workday Enrollment

If you do not actively enroll during Annual Enrollment, your existing elections for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and disability plans will carry over to 2026.

Your elections for your Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Account DO NOT carry over. So if you want to participate in those plans, you must enroll between October 26–November 9 (11 p.m. Eastern Time).

Please update your spouse’s tobacco user status before you enroll. Update this status by logging in to Workday > Benefits > Dependents > Edit > and answer “Yes” or “No” to the question: “Does this person use tobacco?” If you respond ‘“Yes,” you will pay more for spouse life insurance coverage.
