Health Savings Account (HSA)

Available exclusively with the High Deductible Health Plan, the HSA offers triple tax advantages to help you save for current and future healthcare expenses.
  1. Hexcel Benefits
  2. Financial Health
  3. Health Savings Account

When you choose an HSA-qualified high-deductible medical plan, Hexcel offers you the opportunity to set aside dollars in a tax-free account to help pay for qualified healthcare expenses. Hexcel makes a contribution to your HSA in January to help jump-start your savings.

HSA Contribution Limits for 2026

HSA Contributions and Limits Employee Only Employee + 1 or more dependents
Maximum IRS Contribution Limit $4,400 $8,750
Those 55 and older can contribute an additional $1,000
January 2026: Hexcel will jump start your savings by depositing these amounts (pro-rated for new hires): $500 $1,000
Important:

The company contribution counts towards the maximum IRS contribution limits.

Key HSA advantages: An HSA offers you the opportunity to plan and save for a lifetime of healthcare expenses while helping protect you financially against major medical claims. Unlike a Healthcare FSA, HSA funds roll over from year to year until you spend it — which could be after you retire.

Flexibility: You may also change your HSA contributions in Workday at any time. No qualifying event is required. In addition, HSA funds are portable. If you leave your job, you don’t forfeit any funds in your HSA. The funds remain with you even when you change health plans or employers.

Note: Before enrolling in Workday, estimate all HSA contributions (your own contributions + Hexcel’s) to stay under the IRS limits.

Accessing Your Fidelity HSA

  • Account Activation: Log in to NetBenefits and select “Activate HSA” to begin the guided account setup. Follow the prompts to verify your information, review required disclosures, and confirm your details. Once you accept the terms and select “Activate account,” your HSA will be fully active and ready to use.
  • Employer Contributions: Your prorated employer HSA contributions will be added to your account after 90 days of employment, based on successful account opening.
  • Debit Card: Your Fidelity HSA card will be mailed to you after benefit elections are submitted in Workday. Use your Fidelity HSA card for all qualified medical expenses. It is a signature-based card and does not require a personal identification number (PIN).
  • Fidelity BillPay®: Make online payments for qualified medical expenses, set up an automatic schedule for recurring payments, or go paperless with providers that offer electronic billing. Fidelity also offers HSA checkbook and direct deposit reimbursement options.

HSA Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be covered under a high deductible health plan (HDHP).
  • You have no other health coverage (through another plan that is not a HDHP).
  • You are not enrolled in Medicare.
  • You cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
Important tax responsibility:

Remember that you are responsible for tracking all expenses paid from the HSA funds and the qualified medical expenses they correspond to, in case you need to prove to the IRS that distributions from the HSA were for qualified medical expenses. You will be required to complete IRS Form 8889 and submit it with your federal tax return. Note that Fidelity HSAs do not include the option to have your medical expenses paid automatically through your HSA.
